CAP 30/45 is characterized by being a product with greater hardness compared to CAP 50/70. CAP consistency is determined by the Penetration test. This type of Asphalt Cement is indicated for regions with high temperatures as it has a minimum softening point of 52°C and heavy vehicle traffic situations due to its greater consistency and hardness.

Petroleum Asphalt Cement
Technical Specifications
Description
Description
CAP 30/45 is a viscous liquid, semi-solid or solid at room temperature, it has thermoplastic properties, becoming liquid when heated and when cooled it returns to its original state. Obtained through various petroleum distillation processes, it has a solubility of 99% in trichlorethylene. It is specially produced to provide quality and resistance suitable for use in the construction and maintenance of asphalt pavements, as in addition to its binding and waterproofing properties, it has characteristics of flexibility, durability and high resistance to the action of most acids, salts and bases. Its nomenclature is due to its penetration.
Uses
Uses
CAP 30/45 is used in different types of hot mixes and in the construction of asphaltic pavement layers on highways and urban centers.
Application
Application
CAP 30/45 must not be heated to temperatures above 177°C, low risk of oxidation and thermal cracking of the binder.
Heating should be carried out until obtaining the appropriate consistency for the application, with the ideal temperature being obtained by the Viscosity X Temperature ratio.
It should not be applied on rainy days, on wet surfaces and at ambient temperatures below 10°C.
Features
Features
CAP 30/45 is classified according to penetration, according to ANP resolution No. 897, of 11/18/2022 and DNIT 095/2006 -EM standard:
Presentation
Presentation
CAP 30/45 is supplied in bulk, Liquid (tons) in a tank vehicle or in metal drums of 180 kg net.
Recommendations
Recommendations
During handling, use PPE (Personal Protective Equipment). In the event of an accident, consult the Safety Data Sheet for Chemical Products (FISPQ – No. CBAA.007).
Employment restriction
Employment restriction
It is not recommended to use paving services with CAP 30/45 in environmental conditions with temperatures below 10°C.
Handling
Handling
CAP 30/45 is classified by the UN (3257) as risk substance 9 and subclass N.E (high temperature liquids)
As for the arrival of the product at the work site, the sample must be collected for the reception/quality tests. Do not heat the product before the sampling procedure.
Storage
Storage
The product must be stored in bulk, duly sealed, in covered tanks, with serpentine (thermal fluid steam) and circulation pumps.
In case of prolonged storage period, it is recommended to maintain the asphalt temperature at 50°C/60°C or even room temperature, raising the temperature of the material for the asphalt mixture machining process.
