The RL-1C Cationic Asphalt Emulsion is formulated with specific emulsifiers to characterize the slow rupture of the emulsion in the composition of bituminous mixtures with aggregates of high specific surface or of high reactivity of its mineral surface, thus providing a slow and gradual deposition of the asphaltic film, adhesiveness and cohesiveness to the mixture of acidic or basic materials, to be bonded, and the curing of the asphaltic mixture will be processed by the evaporation of the moisture contained in it.

Asphaltic Emulsion RL-1C is specifically used in bituminous mixtures of the cold pre-mixed type (PMF’s) with open granulometric grading, semi-dense, dense and sand-asphalt, or machined on the road like asphalt slurries, and can also be used in bonding painting services and in soil stabilization mixtures (soil-emulsion).

Asphalt mixtures of the Cold Premixed type (PMF’s) using Cationic Asphalt Emulsion RL-1C can be applied on the track immediately after machining or storage with canvas protection for a period of up to 2 days.

Asphalt mixes of the Lama Asfáltica (LA) type are applied with mobile plants directly onto the pavement to be superficially treated. Asphalt slurries using Cationic Asphalt Emulsion RL-1C require a curing period (in the sun) of approximately 3 hours.

In case of storage for long periods, it is recommended to circulate the product once a week. Avoid successive recirculation and pumping to prevent a decrease in viscosity and rupture due to entrained air. We do not recommend storage for more than 30 days. It is recommended that the place of storage and storage be properly sealed, to avoid the occurrence of sedimentation and partial rupture.

During handling, use PPE (Personal Protective Equipment). In the event of an accident, consult the Safety Data Sheet for Chemical Products (FISPQ – No. CBAA.002).

It is not recommended to carry out paving services using Cationic Asphaltic Emulsion RL-1C at temperatures below 10°C.

Do not apply the asphalt mix in cold pre-mixed services, in climatic conditions with imminent rain, during the curing phase (evaporation of the mixing water) which may take up to 12 hours for the total cohesion of the PMF.

In asphalt mud services, do not apply on cracked pavements or in rainy season, avoiding underlying layers.

Do not store the emulsion diluted with water (binding paint) for a prolonged period and premature rupture, inside the storage tank.

Cationic Asphaltic Emulsions RM-1C is listed by the UN (3082), as a risk substance 9 and subclass N.E (liquid substances that pose a risk to the environment).

When the product arrives at the work site, collect the sample for the reception/quality tests. Do not heat the product before the sampling procedure.

the Product must not be heated for use. Eventually (pump / plant problem) it can be heated up to a maximum of 55ºC, for your application.

Contact with the cold product does not cause irritation to the skin, causing burning in the eye when hit. Cold product in contact with the skin will be removed with soap and water. Asphalt residue can be removed with vegetable or mineral oil.

The product must be kept in the open air (in a barrel) or in warehouses (in bulk), but properly sealed. It is not recommended to store the product for a period longer than 30 days.

The Cationic Asphaltic Emulsion RL-1C is a product with medium viscosity characteristics. When at rest for a long period of storage, sedimentation of asphalt globules occurs on the lower surface and emergence of the chemical aqueous phase component of the emulsion, requiring circulation to homogenize the same for its application or the occurrence of partial rupture of the state of emulsion.
